Another Shea Moisture Haul!!

While shopping at Target with my mom and nephew today,I just so happened to pick up a few of Shea Moisture products from their body care line. Yea I knew exactly what was gonna happen when I went in there although, I didn't actually go to Target for that reason...lol Anyways, I spotted the Coconut & Hibiscus Shea Butter Lotion. Of course, I picked it up saying to myself I would just try it out. Now If I had just picked up the lotion and left I would have been alright but no, I ended up buying the groom and shave soap for my dad ($4.99) and a pack of three of their soaps which included the Lavender & wild Orchid; Yucca and Baobab; and the Red Bush & Sage for only $2.99!! What?????? I have no idea why the pack of three was cheaper then the one but, I COULDN'T RESIST!!!  I definitely cannot wait to try them!! I also managed to snatch up the last package of the African Black Soap kit so yea I think I'm getting a bit addicted......lol!!

Well if any of you have tried their body products let me know how your experience was with them. I will be posting a review about the products I picked up after a few weeks of constant use especially the lotion because it is suppose to be for "Toning" the skin so we will see!!!

Holiday Rush!!

So it is almost that time of year again, you know the time when people are running over you in the stores with buggies and strollers!! Lol  I've recently just started a new job and things have been crazy!! I'm currently doing some photography work so things have been extra busy since this is the time of year when many families are coming together to take family photographs for the holidays. I've really been thinking about (again thinking) doing a braid out on my hair. My only thing is, that it seems that my hair has more tangles when I'm unbraiding my hair. I was wondering how many of you prefer a braid out to a twist out?? What kind of results do you receive from each?? If any of you have any tips on having a defined braid out let a sista know!!!

As soon as I can get to my hair I will be updating you! Lol Until then, I will be rocking my wigs!! Hate it or love it!!!

A Shea Moisture twistout..Day 2!!!

Hello everyone, just wanted to share with you my second day twist out!! It's even more fluffier than the day before. I am definitely loving the moisture that my hair is retaining from the smoothie and the souffle. I have never thought that i would ever be able to to get a really soft, defined twist out on my hair!! I mean I even got the end to curl up and they stayed that way all day and with not much shrinkage. I don't say this often but I have definitely found a staple moisturizer!!

Love it!!!

Carols Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask

(Excuse the pic..I am extra tired but I had to make this post!! Lol)

A few of you may began to realize that I really love free samples. Well after I came home today from work I discovered a small package in the mail for me. Oh my what could it be? A free sample from the new line of Carols Daughter products, the MONOI Repairing hair mask!!! Can you say super excited??? Lol. I would suggest that many of you should search sites for free product samples and I guarantee it would be worth your time browsing the web for them. I feel that if you can try a sample first before committing to the full size it will always be a great help in making the decision about the product and if it's right for your hair. I know many of us naturals had to learn the hard way (well at least I did lol). As soon as I try this product I will be sure to give you my review and results especially since it claims to reduce breakage by 96% just after one use...yea we will see about that!!!

If any one has tried this or other products in this line please feel free to comment and let me know how your experience was.

Natural Hair Tales.....In-Between Stage!!

A few years ago when I first tried to go natural I ended up going back to relaxed hair because of the extra, extra dryness and lack of styles I was capable of doing to my hair. Now for the second time around I am finally starting to see the light at the end of that tunnel. I have no idea what is but,  during those stages when your hair is a little beyond twa stage but no where long enough to even start to hang or fall has to be the most challenging part to get through during your natural hair journey (well at least it was for me). Since I've just learned to let my hair do what it does best which by the way is growing up and out and finally finding  great conditioner , it definitely has been able to flourish. Words of encouragement to my self  and to others "Leave it alone and try not to think about if its growing." LOL

Please let me know what has been the most difficult part of your journey!!!

What's your protective style???

So I stepped outside to day and can you say major change?? I live along the gulf coast of Alabama and it doesn't usually get this nippy until the very end of October. As soon as the brisk air hit my face I soon began to think what I should do with my hair during the winter months? I usually wear wigs and braids to protect my natural hair from the cold but I am looking for other protective styles. If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment and let me know how you are protecting you hair!!!

Target Samples!!!!

Many of you know by now that Target has a separate site just for their samples. After finding out about this a few months ago I was finally lucky enough to stumble upon one of their FREE beauty samples. I was so excited to finally get my hands on one but it took so long for me to receive it that I thought it was lost in the mail somewhere.... Well today it finally arrived and I must say it was filled with a lot of goodies and coupons (a product junkies dream lol). If you get a chance check out their site and if you don't see anything just keep checking back because they go fast!!!

(I can't wait to try them!!! I most definitely will be doing a product review on the TRESsemme' Naturals....)

Product Review Coming Soon!!

So a few months ago I received a product from Afroveda through a Facebook contest. I was so excited to get my hands on a free product!! Lol but, who doesn't like free stuff?? Anyway, I have tried a few of their products before and I must say that I love their Carrot Seed shampoo bar! Well, this new product their Spinach Leaf Oil pre-poo treatment that I was sent isn't quite on the market yet but, I was told it could be in the future. Now I'm not really big on the pre-pooing method but if some of you are,do you think it would be necessary to purchase a product for this particular reason or would it be best to use the oils that you already have????

Be on the look out for the full review coming soon!!!

Categorizing natural hair.....Is it necessary??

I would like many of you to share your thoughts about hair typing and is it necessary within the natural hair community? I understand that it does help when you began your natural hair journey but after a while does it seem to make things harder? For example, I know when I began I use to watch so many  hair tutorials from how to style to products and I soon became more frustrated with my hair. The reason, I could not get my hair to do certain things because of my considered 4c hair type. Which always had me wishing that my if my hair was like so and so I could do this or that with it. Eventually, I stopped caring all together and it was at that point that I accepted my hair for what it was and I realized what it could and could not do. Since I have come to that conclusion I actually have been able to take care of my hair even better by just learning to "listen'" to it and to love what ever I have on top of my head!!!

Please feel free to comment!!!

(My first Bomb twist out of the year!! )

Starting Over!

So a few years ago back in 07'/08' I decided to put an end to the relaxers that I had been receiving since the age of five. While working for the Walt Disney World Co. (I know it sounds fun but...yea that a story for another day!!) I began my transition because I was tired of the burns, the constant irritation of my scalp caused by the chemicals and stylists who like to half do a relaxer.  Now I'm not at all bashing the use of relaxers but, I just decided it wasn't for me anymore. Well in May of 2008 I did my first BC!!! I must say it was extremely hard for me when I returned home from my internship. Now you may ask why, well I will definitely tell you. Number one, I had noooooo idea how much of a mental transition I had to make. I mean it's a totally different ball game out there when it comes to learning your hair all over again and I made a horrible mistake by going back after a whole year of being fully natural...... Fast forward three years and I am in the same boat again (8 months transitioned, BC March 2011, 7 months post)! Why you may ask ?? Well because I really didn't have that support system that is out there now. I mean in just a few years time natural hair blogs, websites, and videos have increased and I must say thank you, thank you to all of them!! I have made up in my mind that no matter what someone else thinks whether its family, friends, and whoever else I am sticking to my natural hair because this is who I am! Just for the record it has come easier this time around because "if at first you don't succeed...") well you know the rest! LOL
